Hot days...

Wow, these last few days have been a scorcher!!! Feel like I'm back in NYC. Actually, I like the heat. I'd much rather sweat it out in a t-shirt and shorts than freeze it out in a t-shirt, turtleneck, jacket, scarf and gloves...not that I ever wore a scarf or gloves back East :)

Went to Barnes and Noble this weekend and bought two "writing" magazines. One talked about writing a great villian and making sure your book is a "page turner" from beginning to end, while the other talked about the hottest books and why, and the economics of the publishing industry. I know I should just bury my head and do nothing but write, but I like to read these things. I figure the smallest nugget of information is helpful.

Saw War of the Worlds late Friday night with a friend. I'm shocked this movie is rated PG-13. WOW! Intense violence from beginning to end. Movie was great, but without spoiling it for anyone...there was one incredibly dumb part of the ending. Completely unrealistic in the confines of the movie. Shocked Spielberg included it. But, overall it was great. Going to take my daughter to see Willy Wonka next weekend. Wife and i are having Nip/Tuck withdrawl, since we missed the first 2 seasons, but bought Season 1 on DVD and went through all 13 episodes in something like 10 days! Thank god for Rescue Me. Best show on TV. Dennis Leary should win an Emmy.

OK, back to more writing. If The Historian can remain a best seller all summer, there is hope yet for the rest of us!!!
