Father's Day...

Imagine 6 adults, 5 kids between the ages of 3-5 and three babies all having brunch in a 1600 sq. ft house and you'll get a sense of my father's day - a tsunami of fun and chaos, with the occiasional melt down thrown in for good measure!!!! Bought a number of DVD's for my own Father's Day present - The Bruce Lee collection (5 DVD set), Blade Runner Director's Cut and Man on Fire Director's Cut (comes with a FF movie free ticket). Like I have time to watch these right now :)

Wrote three pages of my novel last night. What I'm basically doing is writing, writing, writing...and when I get to "The End" I'll go back and do all the editing, editing, editing. I just want to get a first draft down on paper, take a couple weeks off and then read it all from scratch to see what works and what doesn't. Knowing me, if I go back and re-read the last chapter I wrote or the last couple of pages, I'll end up never getting ahead. I hope this strategy works. I've also decided that all the awesome "historical research" I'm going to pepper throughout the novel will come in with the 2nd draft/edit. I've purchased a number of books that are sure to help me with the mythology I'm trying to create, plus I've discovered a number of really cool websites that will help as well. But again, I could spend days and weeks on this stuff, and right now I just want to get a first draft complete before I go into heavy research mode. No clue if this is right or wrong, but time will tell!!!!
