The Horror, The Horror...part 1

First post for my first blog!

I think the plan is to document the journey of a normal, every day kind of guy trying to write his very first novel. And not just any novel...but a "horror/dark fantasy" novel. Now I know many people hate putting themselves in the genre category, but I'm all about embracing what I love. And I love the realm of horror and fantasy. Sci-fi is OK, and I really enjoy a good thriller (just not the Da Vinci Code, which was incredibly disappointing), but nothing gets me excited like a good horror and/or fantasy story. And regarding fantasy, while the LOTR series is akin to GOD in my eyes, it's an anomoly. I like em dark. And I'm proud to shout that out to the world.

Regarding my novel, I think the end result might be a bit horror and a bit dark fantasy. Plenty of scares, plenty of creatures, plenty of interesting characters, a really cool story, and a smattering of history sprinkled throughout. To take a page from the classic Hollywood pitch session, the best way to describe my story - "one part Ghost Story, one part The Eight and one part Constantine."

With that being said, I don't want this new blog, 1 of 7 gazillion out there in the world wide web, to only be about my novel-in-progress. That would be boring!!! I'll also talk about my favorite baseball team (the Mets), favorite hobbies (comic books and anything related) and of course, my daily life. Which by the way, includes an amazing wife and three incredible kids!!!!

SO...I hope you enjoy the daily (or almost daily) rant and raves, and I hope you stick around long enough to see how it all plays out...Right now my better half wants to watch some HGTV. Gotta go!!
