2nd post!!!
Writing a novel is freakin hard!!! Wow. My hat is off to every single person out there who has typed "The End" and lived to talk about it. Where do you find the time? How do you persevere?
Here's my story - about 1 1/2 years ago I got the juices flowing and decided it was time to write down one of the numerous ideas floating around in my noggin. I'd come home from a 10 hour work day, hang out with my wife and daughter, everyone would go to bed, and somewhere around this time of night, I'd start writing. And write, and write and write. I got to about 110 pages when my wife and I discovered we were having TWINS! Uh oh, this writing thing was about to get incredibly more difficult. And at that point I also joined a writers group, who collectively gave me one perfect bit of criticism. "You can't write this novel of yours in 1st person. It's too constricting." Uh oh again....But they were right.
Fast forward a couple months and my wife gets sick and is bed ridden and the twins come two months early. And here I am, 35 pages into rewriting my novel, happy as a clam it's 3rd person, knowing that what I'm doing now is the right decision...but damn if this isn't hard stuff!!! I go to work, come home and play with the family, put the kids to sleep, take care of the house, hang with my wife, watch a little TV, read a book, my wife goes to bed...and here I am. I guess I just have to keep at it, every single day, no matter what. And that's just what I'm going to do now. Page 36 is calling my name.
One last thing - going to see Batman Begins next Thurs for a friend's bday. Can't wait!! I know it's going to be good. But I'm beginning to panic about the FF. Still don't know why Marvel and Fox hired someone like Tim Story to direct, rather than a proven action/thriller guy. But, that's just me...Chow.
