Wow, I've been a busy boy...

Writing this post from lovely St. Louis where i'll be for 3 days, and then off to Boston. Two weeks ago I was in Austin (now that was serious fun!!) and Minneapolis (great happy hour at TGI Fridays). Basically, work is keeping me incredibly busy, but I'm making great progress on the novel.

Right now on page 130. I'm getting to the point in the story where I honestly haven't quite mapped it all out in my head. I think I've got another 30-40 or so pages I can write, and then I've got to seriously figure out how I get my main characters to go where I want them to go and do what I want them to do. I've been going back to certain sections and beefing them up a bit. I keep telling myself to just crank out a first draft and not worry about editing, but it's very hard to not have an idea and go back to page 56 and add in another paragraph or two. Reading Salem's Lot for the first time gave me a great idea, so I've added a couple pages to reflect that.

In addition to finishing Salem's Lot, I also finished reading (very quickly since the book is small and fast moving), David Morrell's classic book The Totem. I liked it. Didn't love it. Right now I'm 3/4 through Daywatch, part two of the Nightwatch trilogy. Very good series. Clearly dark fantasy, definitely not horror...although it could have gone that route if the author wanted it to. Looking forward to seeing the movie this summer and hopefully they'll publish the final book soon. Want to get my hands on Chris Golden's Borderkind, the 2nd book in his new series, and I also still need to read book 2 of Douglas Clegg's Vampyricon series. Too many damn books to read!!

OK, time to work on the novel. Chow...
