I'm a loser, baby...

Been over a month since my last post...wow, such a loser!!!
That also means I hadn't written anything in that month's timespan - my only excuse is that I've been swamped at work, traveling to Las Vegas, Philly and Portland, OR. Plus, I'm a huge fantasy baseball fanatic, and now that spring training is here, I end up spending way too many hours researching potential NL players for my teams. I'm in two leagues - came in 3rd in one of them (very expensive league) and 8th in another, and I've got to finish in the money in both this year!!

But, I think the real reason I fell off the horse was that I wanted to take time off and let everything flap and flip around in my head, all the ideas I have for changing the story based on the Writers Workshop feedback. AND NOW, I can proudly say I think it's all been figured out. So I'm back to writing. Last night I re-wrote my Prologue and I think it's better and tighter. Now I start with Ch. 1, and I know what has to be done to make the neccessary changes.

In the last month I have read a couple great books - The Golden, by Lucius Shepard, Myth Hunters, by Christopher Golden, and Something from the Nightside, by Simon R. Green. The Golden was an amazing vampire novel - Shepard created this very vivid, gritty, gothic world with the entire story revolving around a giant castle home to the original vampire. It was basically a detective novel rolled into a better version of Interview with a Vampire. Very cool, and I wish there was a sequel, cause the book ends very open ended. Myth Hunters is the first book in an amazing dark fantasy series by Mr. Golden, one of my favorites. A must read. And the Nightside books are another dark fantasy series, combining Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere with the movie Constantine. Great stuff, and I'm going to get book 2 shortly.

My twins are napping and my wife and daughter are out running errands. I have about 30 minutes to get another couple pages written. Nuff said :)
